Tilework from Porceleyne Fles, Delft

From the 1880s onwards, it was the Delft earthenware factory De Porceleyne Fles that played a prominent role in the Netherlands as a producer of monumental tile pictures and building ceramics. It was Adolf le Comte (Rijswijk, 1850 - The Hague, 1921), who also taught at the Polytechnic School in Delft, and Leon Senf (Delft, 1860 - Alkmaar, 1940) who produced tableaux in various ceramic techniques for many years.
