The activities

As a relatively small and unsubsidised museum, the Stichting Keramisch Museum Goedewaagen relies for its income on the proceeds from admission, guided tours and workshops as well as on donations and bequests from the friends of our museum. In the meantime you know the museum, founded in 1989, as a centre of ceramic activities that annually presents a large number of exhibitions, which time and again reveal the intensive research carried out by various study groups of ceramic documentalists and committed collectors affiliated to the museum.

Status and plans

The museum foundation operates entirely independently from the Royal Goedewaagen earthenware factory. The exhibition rooms and the depot are rented from the factory. The museum does not pay salaries. In 2010, the appointment of the chairman of the board, Mr M. Hendrikse, marked the start of a professionalisation process that led, among other things, to the acquisition of the ANBI status, file 79683.

In 2011, the museum received several important ceramic donations and legacies as a result of its recognition as a charity. We could really use your help for:

  • Refurbishment of the display cases with environmentally friendly and economical LED lighting.
  • Three new media players for films and exhibition PowerPoint presentations
  • Good ANWB signposting in Nieuw Buinen and Stadskanaal
  • Museum flags and screen-printed tarpaulin for the museum forecourt.
  • Conversion of a new room for the museum gallery.
  • A shortened German-language website of the museum.
  • Acquisition and restoration fund.
  • New cash register and ATM on recognition as an official museum.
  • Publication of a yearbook to document current museum research.
