De Distel - Carduus tiles

Under the name carduus (Latin for thistle), the factory launched from 1909 onwards small tiles measuring 7.5 by 7.5 centimetres in which an abstract decoration was pressed using a lead die. On these tiles, a thick enamel glaze was applied within the pressed lines. Tile and enamel glaze turned out to have special frost-resistant qualities.
