Second capital gift of faïence from 'Holland', Utrecht, 1895-1902

The fact that the Goedewaagen Ceramics Museum now displays the largest collection of faïence from the Utrecht 'Holland' (1895-1905) of all Dutch museums has everything to do with another capital gift from the Schoonbroodt family, the same family that exhibited its huge collection of more than 300 pieces in 2006 in Museum Het Princessehof under the title 'The Holland collection'. An exhibition project that was documented in a monograph published by Waanders publishers, written by M. Heslenfeld. The second donation of a further 70 pieces led to new research, which revealed the names of the craftsmen from Makkum, Purmerend and Maastricht who were recruited. The year marks of Mijnlieff's faience factory 'Holland' were also successfully identified. Read more about faience from 'Holland', Utrecht >>
